The Program concentrates its research in the area of Education, aligning it with various analyses of models of teacher education in relation to educational practices, teaching and learning processes, and human development. It also studies educational management in the context of educational and social policies, as well as in relation to educational institutions. It investigates the multiple relationships between education, digital and virtual technologies and their didactic-pedagogical and cultural implications in the contemporary world.
Investigates the education phenomenon by analyzing the initial and continued teacher training models and their translations in the education practice, learning processes, and human development. Looks further into the theories that guide educational actions and proposes strategies for intervening in the various types of education systems (formal, non-formal, basic and higher education). This line investigates digital and virtual technologies, their languages, and their impacts on education. Analyzes the impacts of such changes on educational practices, the new forms of sociability mediated by such technologies and languages, and their didactic-pedagogical impacts. Studies the cyber-culture in the educational context. From the educational standpoint, it researches the contemporary culture’s psychological, philosophical, technological, anthropological, and sociological variables. Investigates the management of education systems and/or schools in the context of public social policies, considering the different theories on state and participatory citizenship. Focuses on mechanisms that create social and educational inequalities, and looks into them against public social policies. Conducts research to support diagnoses, analyses, propositions, programs and projects in the areas of public policies. Regular student: 32 credits, divided into 18 required credits, 14 elective credits. Foreign language proficiency: Guidelines for the Proficiency Exam – This exam is a demanded by CAPES and fixed by La Salle University regulations (art. 41 and 42 of the Graduation Program in Education Rules, CONSUN Resolution nr. 667/14). Coordinations recommend students to take the Proficiency Exam until the 2nd semester. It is possible to take these exams at La Salle language Institute – Unidiomas, where in June and November there is an open public notice for the academic community and external public. Follow the publication of the notice at Unidiomas’ website. Qualification for the dissertation project: The qualification exam is required and a prerequisite for the final presentation. It is done when the student has fulfilled all credits of the required courses. The qualification exam is done by an examination board, composed by at least 3 (three) members with PhD level and the adviser. In the PhD Program, students must qualify in the maximum deadline of 24 months. Dissertation approved in public presentation: The minimum duration for the Doctorate Course, including the presentation of the dissertation is of 24 (twenty-four) months, with maximum of 48 (forty-eight) months, from the beginning of the first academic year when the student has enrolled in the Program. Special Student: Special students are non-regular students, who are enrolled in one or more elective courses offered by the Program, in this condition, totalizing the maximum of 12 credits.
Regular Student: 28 credits, divided into 10 required credits (Research Methodology in Education (3 credits), thesis meetings (4 credits), Complementary Activities (3 credits) and 18 elective credits (courses, seminars and directed readings).
